Oliver Lieber
In his series Respiration, the Stuttgart-based photographer shows 18 gas masks from different European countries and up to 100 years old. The masks have been in use partly for the protection of the population, for military use, but also in mining or firefighting operations. In this project, he is particularly interested in exploring the tension between the protective function and the aura of threat.
At Positions Berlin, September 2020, the series, thematically current due to the Corona crisis, received a lot of attention.
