Marcus Schwier
He was born in 1964 and studied architecture and photography at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. This characterizes his work. Grown or built, nature or concrete, for the photographer it is about abstracting the reality of spaces and how light affects the identity of things. From pinhole cameras to digital medium size format, Schwier uses the full range of technology.
Schwier, a recipient of important art prizes and awards, lives in Düsseldorf and on Lake Constance. His work has been published and exhibited internationally, including at the Museum Schloß Benrath, K10, Düsseldorf, Museum Ratingen, and the Zeppelin Museum, Friedrichshafen.
Above all, it is the painterly quality that unites Schwier’s repertoire of themes. … What one experiences are themes and variations which are all animated by a disciplined, differentiated vision.
